Meet David McCoy, U.S. Army — 2021 Veteran
Sergeant First Class David A. McCoy enlisted in the United States Army in August 1995 as an Infantryman and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia.
SFC McCoy's assignments include 1st Bn 327 Infantry, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, 1st Bn 127 Armor, NYARNG, Olean, New York, Troop A 2nd Bn 101 RSTA, NYARNG, Geneva, New York, 2nd BDE Cadet Command ROTC, Saint Bonaventure University, Saint Bonaventure, New York.
SFC McCoy is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. He has also deployed in support of the Multinational Forces and Observers, NATO, Sinai Peninsula, Egypt and Operation Noble Eagle 2, U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (2), the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (2), the National Defense Service Medal (2), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the overseas service ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device, the NATO Medal, the Multinational Forces and Observers Medal, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and the Army National Guard Recruiter Badge.
SFC McCoy's military and civilian education includes the Combat Lifesaver Course, Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Primary Leadership Development Course and Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course. He has earned a Bachelors Degree in General Studies from Columbia College and a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science from Empire State College.
