Meet Kevin Bacheller, U.S. Navy — 2025 Veteran
Retired FCC(SW) Kevin S. Bacheller, USN
Kevin Bacheller was born on 30 September, 1971 in Houlton, Maine. He grew up in central Maine, but calls Jacksonville, Florida, his home. He graduated from Averill Academy in June of 1989 and holds an associate's degree from the University of Maine at Augusta and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University.
He entered the Navy on 10 July, 1989, attended boot camp and Electrician's Mate ‘A' School in Great Lakes, Illinois, before reporting on board the USS SEATTLE (AOE-3). He left active duty for the Naval Reserves and served with the Seabee's at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 27 in Brunswick, Maine as a Construction Electrician.
In January of 2007, he re-entered active duty and completed Fire Controlman training pipeline in Great Lakes, Illinois. FC3 Bacheller reported to the USS GETTYSBURG (CG-64) as a MK-86 Gun Weapons System Technician and finished his tour as a WF LPO. While aboard the GETTYSBURG, he qualified CSOOW and Combat Systems Coordinator.
FC1 (SW) Bacheller was then assigned to the Center for Naval Leadership at Fleet Training Center, Mayport as a Leadership Facilitator. While on shore duty he volunteered for an IA Tour at Camp Delta Detention Facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he was assigned to Special Projects Detachment and subsequently selected for and pinned on Chief Petty Officer.
After pre-commissioning the USS GRIDLEY (DDG-101), Chief Bacheller was assigned to the Center for Security Forces LS Yokosuka, Japan, as a Small Arms Marksmanship and Close Quarters Combat Instructor. After an injury sustained in 2009, he was flown to the National Medical Center (NNMC) Bethesda for treatment and rehabilitation. While at NNMC Bethesda, he was the Special Assistant to the Command Master Chief. Once found fit for duty, Chief Bacheller was transferred to the Center for Surface Combat Systems Great Lakes where he served as the Military Standards and Conduct Chief Petty Officer at Apprentice Technical Training.
