Meet Luke Jensen, U.S.M.C. — 2018 Veteran
Luke Jensen was born and raised in upstate New York. He graduated from Hammondsport Central School in 1996. After trying to further his education, he decided to follow his father's footsteps and join the military. Luke enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in 1998. He attended Marine Corp boot camp at Paris Island, South Carolina followed by Combat Training in Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Luke later went to his MOS school at Camp Johnson, North Carolina and then received orders to his first permanent duty station, 2nd Surveillance Reconnaissance Intelligence Group at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Luke will receive training, and will be presented with his Service K9 Stone, in the 3rd week of July, 2018.
In 2002 he was separated from the Marine Corp and struggled with the loss of the Marine Corp brotherhood but in February of 2005 he was recalled to Active Duty and received orders to Twenty-Nine Palms where he was assigned to the Tactical Training Exercise Control Group as an Instructor to the Officer Corp until July 2005 when his orders expired.
Not wanting to leave the military again, he pursued The United States Army and enlisted in 2009 and joined the 827th Engineering Company and deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. During his deployment his convoy was ambushed with RPGs and small arms fire. His mission was to secure the damaged vehicles and return to his FOB.
In February 2016, Luke Jensen was Honorably discharged under medical conditions. Luke suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries.
