Meet Elias Ramos, U.S. Army — 2018 Veteran
Elias Ramos was born in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating high school he entered the military in 2007. He attended Basic Training at Ft. Leopardwood, AIT at Ft. Will. He received his first permanent duty station located at Camp Hovey, South Korea.
Elias will receive training, and will be presented with his Service K9 Dan, on July 28th, 2018 around noon.
The location will be Recovery Fitness, 1035 Dewey Ave., Rochester, NY 14613.
Upon completion of his tour in South Korea he was then stationed at Ft. Drum, New York. Next, Ramos was deployed to Wardak Province, Afghanistan. As an artilleryman, during his deployment Ramos and two platoons were sent to Cop Conlon, where they conducted their missions out of their unit. They were tasked as a maneuver, QRF, PSD, and RCP outpost.
During one mission his convoy was hit with an IED and four team members were lost. After spending twelve months in Afghanistan he returned home and wanted out. He was diagnosed with severe chronic PTSD and struggles with social anxiety, paranoia, depression and survivor's guilt.
Ramos was discharged April 4th, 2011. Elias is married with two children.
