Meet Jeffrey Mullins, U.S. Army — 2017 Veteran

Jeffrey Mullins was born in Albany, New York. He attended and graduated from Columbia High School, East Greenbush, New York. On March 9, 1977 he enlisted into the Navy to become a member of the Navy Seabees.

Jeff did his basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida and attended Builder "A" school in Port Hueneme, California. His first duty station was with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4. He deployed for nine months every fifteen months to Diego Garcia, Rota, Spain, Puerto Rico, Japan.

In 1980 he attended the Military Police and Correctional Custody school at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Upon graduation, he received assignment to work as a Corrections Specialist in Yokosuka, Japan. After completing this assignment, he attended Builder "C" school in Port Hueneme, California.

He entered the military for a second time on January 15, 1999 and became an Army Combat Medic. In June 2008, Jeff deployed with the 328th MP Company to Baghdad, Iraq where he served as the Lead Medic in the Emergency room. Upon his return in June 2009, he continued on active duty as the Lead Combat Lifesaver Instructor for the mobilization of deploying military units while assigned to the 174th Infantry Brigade and was promoted to the rank Staff Sergeant.

In February 2012, he deployed to Forward Operating Base Lindsay where he served as the sole medic for his team of 17 soldiers. Upon returning, Jeff joined the Army Reserves and continued with training all branches of the military as an Army Trainer/Mentor to medical units across the country. SFC Mullins Retired from Active Duty on May 31, 2017 with 28 years of service.

He was then assigned to Construction Mobile Unit-418 located in Bangor, Washington. Jeff was promoted to Petty Officer Second Class. In 1985 he received a re-assignment to stand-up a new Construction Battalion, NMCB-7 located in Gulfport, Mississippi where he deployed shortly afterwards to Rota, Spain and Adak, Alaska.

Upon completing his tours he was promoted to Petty Officer First Class and was reassigned to NMCB-133. Jeff then deployed to Puerto Rico for a second time and opted to get out of the military in December of 1988.
