Meet Shawn Murphy, US Navy — 2019 Veteran
Shawn Murphy grew up in Kent, New York, Orleans County. In 1986 prior to graduating high school he attended United States Naval Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of bootcamp he received his first permanent duty assignment with Reserve Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 13 in Rochester, New York. Later in 1986 Murphy went back to high school and graduated in June of 1987 from Kendall Central High School.
In August of 1987 Shawn departed Gulfpot, Mississippi to attend Construction Electrician (CE) A school, as a member of the United States Navy Seabees. In 1990 Murphy was activated and assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 and deployed abroad to perform his primary duties as a construction electrician. Murphy returned to homeport in Gulfport, Mississippi after his deployment where he attended schools and spent time with family.
